Welcome to the exciting new green area of our website...
We’re Planting One Tree with Every Single Order
Now more than ever, we’re recognising the importance of taking care of our environment, not only for the sake of our own health as human beings, but for the plants, animals and food chains that depend on it. With exactly this in mind, here at Office Furniture Online, we’ve decided to take a proactive step in helping to support our eco-system by partnering up with Eden Reforestation Projects, where we’ll be helping to fund tree planting in lots of locations all around the world. What’s more, you don’t have to do a single thing, just take comfort in the knowledge that your order has funded the plantation of a tree.
Eden Reforestation Projects
Who Are They and What Do They Do?
Eden Reforestation Projects is a 501c3 non-profit organisation who provide employment for impoverished villagers to help grow plants and guard native species forest on an enormous scale. By 2025, their aim (with the help of partners, such as us and subsequently, you!) is to plant a million trees each year, while offering employment to the thousands of people that are planting them. So together, thanks to the Eden Restoration Projects, each order that you place makes a positive contribution to a greener future.
New research has revealed that a worldwide planting programme could eliminate an incredible two-thirds of all emissions from human activities that remain in the atmosphere today
– but what other benefits do they have?
Trees absorb odours and gasses by trapping them in their leaves and bark.
Trees absorb and store excess carbon dioxide (CO2) while releasing oxygen back into the air.
In a single year, an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18 people.
Dependent on what the species of tree offers, a single tree can be a habitat to hundreds of species of mammals, insect, fungi, moss and plants.
Trees save water by shading the ground around them, therefore preventing evaporation.
Trees fight soil erosion by breaking the force of wind and rain on soil.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, nothing at all. Once you have placed your order, we will do the rest. Keep an eye on our tree counter to see how many trees we have planted so far.
For many reasons this is not possible, but your tree will be planted in locations where there is a primary need to help poverty-stricken communities, while planting in areas that have been decimated by deforestation, such as: Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia and Mozambique.
These vary from nation to nation but are strictly native species trees and never new or invasive species.
The majority of the planted trees at Eden Reforestation Project sites are owned by the local communities who actively participate in the restoration of their regional forest during their employment period with Eden.
Eden Reforestation Projects make every effort to ensure the forest planted become permanent and sustainable by not planting in logging areas, hiring forest guards, supplying the local villagers with alternative fuel sources and planting agroforestry species (fruit) so that these trees can become a source of sustainable income.
