reception design trends

Eye-catching colour palettes are very on trend right now.

Staying on trend as a business can be crucially important, particularly if you’re in a fast-moving industry such as technology, design or marketing. 2018 is seeing some pretty awesome trends emerging already; here are some of our favourites to help inspire your décor for the rest of the year.

·      Biophilic design

Confused? You don’t need to be. Biophilic design is simply about a return to nature, and a move to make our workplaces greener and more pleasant. The inclusion of plants in reception areas have been shown to have numerous physical and mental health benefits, so it’s no surprise that more and more receptions are welcoming little green friends into their space.

·      Employee wellness

As we begin to recognise the detrimental effects of sitting for too long, more receptionists are being furnished with better ways of working. From sit-stand desks to ergonomic operator chairs, it’s time to consider the health of your receptionist and what you can do to make it better.

·      Home from home style

We’re seeing a definite move towards reception areas becoming a homelier place to be. Gone are the doctors waiting room style chairs and tables screwed to the floor, and in their place, we’re seeing gorgeous designer coffee tables, comfy sofas and casual stools, such as those in our Nomique Reception Furniture range.

·      Flexible spaces

Today’s businesses have a tendency to grow and shrink, to require more or less employees and to have varying needs over the course of the year. As such, we’re seeing a huge demand for furniture which allows more flexibility and a more dynamic office environment, so that the space can change as the needs of the business do. What is a reception area today may be a meeting room tomorrow and a training space next week, and the choice of furnishing and décor has to be flexible enough to allow this.

·      The ‘far fetched’ palette

One of Pantones chosen colour themes for 2018 is the ‘far fetched’ palette of colours, and we have to say we absolutely love it. Using colours that are globally inspired, these warm tones are ideal for creating a welcoming, inviting reception. Among their other choices we also adore the ‘resourceful’ palette, which uses blues and oranges to create eye popping colour combinations, perfect for cutting edge companies.

·      Responsible design

Responsible design is a big issue this year, and businesses are looking for ever more innovative ways to make their reception areas more sustainable. From installing solar film on windows to reduce the need for air conditioning to offering places to recycle cups, meeting agendas and more, being outwardly committed to a better planet earth is a trend we can all get on board with.

If you’re ready to jump on board with a trendy new reception design, take a look at our Nomique Reception Furniture for stylish, modern options. What’s your top trend in reception design this year? Let us know!
