Britain’s schools are spending more and more on ICT equipment and it has already started to push the £2 billion mark, as the average school child is now devoting more time to working at a computer.

The ICT revolution may be storing up problems for the health of children in the future and not many parents or teachers seem to realise how damaging it can be for a child to sit in front of a screen for a long period of time.

The dangers of bad posture have been recognised by businesses and employees who have introduced ergonomic office furniture into the workplace but this is not the case for many schools.

Employers have invested heavily in adjustable office chairs and carefully designed office desk layouts.

In schools this is a different story and the impact is being seen in doctors’ surgeries as one in three chiropractic patients suffer from injuries beginning during their childhood. Research by the British Chiropractic Association showed 29% of parents had already noted that their child has complained of back pain and a further 38% of parents said that they were concerned about their children’s posture.
