The onset of the computer age has meant that there are now an increasing number of people who work from home. If they are serious about what they are doing and want some privacy from the rest of the family then the only solution is a home office.

Office furniture used to be very dull and everywhere you went you would see the same sort of office desks and chairs. Working at home has only become an option for many people in recent years and rising numbers has convinced the furniture industry that perhaps desks and chairs need to be more attractive than they have been. For many people dressing the office has become a fundamental part of overall home improvement. In their attempts to keep up with this trend many designers are moving away from melamine desk tops and flickering lights to desks and lighting systems that are meant to attract even the least design conscious among us.

The latest trend in home offices has been the garden room office, although this has a long history with writers such as Roald Dahl and George Bernard Shaw both preferring to write in either a conservatory or a glorified garden shed. Whatever your preference, the trend seems to be leaning towards a more welcoming and inventive atmosphere in the home office, and also a greater acknowledgement of style and comfort in office furnishings.
