If you spend a lot of time in your office, whether it is a company office, a home office or just a corner of a workshop, the desk is an important part of the set up.

Desks come in many shapes, sizes and colours, so there is bound to be one that is just right for you.

Nowadays it is unusual to find an office that does not have a computer, yet people will buy office furniture without taking account of the fact that computers come with a whole load of wires. If you’re shopping for a new desk then try to ensure that the one you choose has a nice little hole through which the wires are designed to slot.

Whether you work from home, in a general office, or at a desk in the corner of a workshop try to remember that your desk is for working on, it is not a dumping ground. Treat your desk with a little respect and try to keep it as clear of non-essential items as you possibly can. We’ve all seen desks that are supporting a computer, an unwieldy heap of files, family photos, beanie dolls, and several coffee cups that have been there so long they’re stuck to the surface. Your desk should be personalised, but not to the point of hindering your work.
