Grain

April 1st, 2017

The grain is the longitudinal direction of wood fibres, or the pattern showing on the surface of timber from cutting through it. Different solid wood furniture types have different grain patterns; every surface grain is unique to the tree the wood was sourced from.

The grain can be a natural wood grain pattern seen in the surface of solid wood furniture, or may be printed onto another surface, such as laminate as a design feature.
