Extruded Particle Board

January 27th, 2018

Extruded particle board is made using a process of extrusion.  Extrusion is a method of creating objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile or shape.  A material is pushed through a ‘die’ of the desired cross-section shape, i.e. a cylindrical pole could be put through a hexagonal device, so that the pole comes out the other end with hexagonal edges, as opposed to cylindrical.

Extruded particle board may have holes running internally from end to end; these have been extruded by purpose made machine tools for particle board extrusion.
