Most designers and office furniture suppliers have at some point begged a client to pick a totally different colour in the knowledge that choosing that particular colour would actually make an office look boring.
Whilst office furniture retailers will have seen some fabulous colour schemes in place either through a customer with a great eye for detail, or from the result of a good interior designer, there have been some terrible ideas see daylight too.
The problem seems to be that some sales people worry that they will lose the order if they get involved with a design or scheme that is such a personal choice.
Choosing colour is a considered affair and no one wants a boring office desk and drab office chair. However, often the colours that are chosen are governed by a corporate look in line with a corporate logo colour and general corporate colour scheme for the office and office furniture.
It is only when none of the restrictive factors are relevant is when you can really express yourself and have some fun. Interestingly enough colours also have their own psychological symbolism.
So choosing a black office chair can mean mystery, style, power, mystery. Choosing white office furniture can mean cleanliness, purity, sterility. If you plump for a red computer desk this says speed, arrogance, sex, strength and bravery. A blue office desk could symbolises calm, productive, conservatism, and seriousness. Colours such as orange mean, enthusiasm, flamboyance, playfulness and creativity.
The message is clear. When choosing a colour consider what the colour is saying about your company to everyone that visits you?
So are you having that office desk in red, green or blue…..?
