There are more and more people now working from home.
Unfortunately, there are also many home business entrepreneurs who often complain of discomfort and pain, even injury or fatigue because of certain important factors that have been neglected when they set up the home office. These things include poor office furniture layout and old or inadequate office furniture which seem to be the main culprits for excessive straining of certain parts of the human body such as the frequent use of muscles in the hand, neck and back.
We cannot now ignore the fact that ergonomics, which is now defined as “The applied science of equipment design, as for the workplace, intended to maximize productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort", plays a vital role in setting up your business and home office. With the correct implementation of your own home office ergonomics, by re-designing your office to maximize space and invest in an ergonomic computer desk or office chair, you can work from home in a more relaxed manner which will help avoid excessive strain or fatigue.
If you work from home using a computer you are likely to spend several hours seated on your office chair. It certainly stands to reason that your office chair has to take its pride of place in your whole home office setup. The office chair has essentially got to be comfortable. You will probably need a swivel office chair with adjustable height and adjustable backrest with lumbar support, preferably with arms.
Another important factor that plays a role in causing severe muscular aches and pains is your keyboard. The pain is often noticed in your forearm and wrist. The keyboard should therefore, be placed at a lower level than your office desk within a sliding tray which will reduce the immediate strain to your wrists and forearm.
