The PA or secretary’s office desk is actually a very important piece of office furniture because of the link between her, the boss and the rest of the staff. A secretary’s office desk should be large enough for her to place all her work but not too big that it takes up too much space.
Her office desk is a direct reflection of the personality of the work place and the boss, for example if her desk is organised it shows that she is in control and to visitors it shows that the office is well run and efficient.
There should be enough room on this important office desk to departmentalise various stationary items such as printed papers, office diaries and visitors cards.
Many secretary office desks have a separate detachable area underneath the desk which can be moved out to accommodate as a computer desk and any such adjustments for a desk such as this can be customised to suit the needs of the secretary.
A very important element of the secretary’s office desk is to have a set of draws large enough to keep all her important papers to hand but not too obtrusive that it gets in her way when she is working. In the case of a secretary’s office desk many manufacturers will take into consideration the need for extra storage space and will normally allow for longer and wider draw space to suit workable needs.
Ample leg room is important when her office desk is in use as a computer desk and she needs to quickly switch to working on her computer in the middle of the day
