The Participatory Leader
The Participatory Leader is very adept at communication. They do not see the need to observe employees by standing behind their office chairs or leaning over their office desks viewing their work rate. Under this type of boss, employees will be given precise feedback and recognition when they deserve it. The Participatory Leader strives to involve all employees in the assessment process. He or she will be inspirational and innovative. The Participatory Leader will customize the amount of feedback required for each of their employees and will hold regular meetings with their individual staff either at their staff’s office desk or within their own offices.
Managing The Participatory Leader: Adopt the same techniques as the Participatory Leader and feedback in the same way that he or she uses with their subordinates. Keep them informed about what you find does and does not work through email communication. This type of leader is interested in results so your opinions will be listened to.
