Organisation

Is your office desk a disaster area?  Well there are different levels of disaster depending upon people’s tolerance for disorganisation.  Some people are driven crazy by a couple of stacks of papers pushed to the corner of their office desk overflowing to the nearby computer desk.  For others, well wading their way through a pile of paperwork that has over flown across the bottom of the floor of the office and trapped itself underneath the wheels of their office chair is now a disaster.

OK, let’s look at this:

 Level One (You)
Is my time management poor due to having to find important paperwork that really should be in alphabetical order within a filing cabinet thus easy to find?

Or,

Is the impeding clutter causing me stress and draining my energy?

Systems, systems, systems…..without these we are less productive with our time which impacts on our ability to make money and increases our stress levels, systems are so important.

Level Two (Others)
What if someone would need to pick up where you left off?  Is it possible? What if there is an emergency or you are going on holiday? Do they know where to find your work? Could they priorities your tasks with efficiency, or would they spend their time crawling around under your computer desk retrieving important documents from the wheels of your office chair?

Disorganisation has a knock on effect to those around you, not just because you maybe transferring your irritation subconsciously but also because your co-workers may need to work with you or in your absence without you to achieve an end result.  Also, let’s face it, stress can lead to illness and sick days which really transfers to your co-workers when they have to find your rather shabby make shift filing system trapped at the back of your office desk being held in place only by the wall your desk rests against!

It can be hard enough struggling with the increasing demands that maybe made on your daily work schedule without making things harder for yourself.  It really is worth taking some time out of your day to nominate a filing cabinet, sort out a filing system, clear your office desk top and organize your draws.

Life will become so much easier for you and everyone around you!
