Office Furniture Evolves over the years

Additionally, office furniture items and social furniture items have been excavated as far back as the 8th century BC (Turkey), the earliest surviving carpet is thought to be dating back from the 3rd-6th century BC and was discovered in a frozen tomb in Siberia.

1738 / 1748 excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum revealed Roman furniture which had been preserved in the ashes of the 79 A.D. eruption of volcano Vesuvius.

Office furniture and home furniture during the Middle Ages was found to be heavy, bulky and mainly made out of oak with beautiful decorative designs.

During the first part of the 20th century office furniture was starting to become modernized, the styles that came into play including Bauhaus and Art Deco amongst others.  Suddenly during the 1960’s – 1980’s the postmodern design started to intersect the pop art movement which had arrived.

Now much of the world’s office furniture and home furniture items are manufactured in China which has shifted the world’s main furniture manufacturing market from Europe, UK and the U.S.
