New employees

When new people start in the workplace it can be daunting experience for them but it can also be tough if you have been working at the company for a while and you are not sure of the impact in the change of office dynamics.

New employees often have a concern that colleagues will not speak to them as the team seem to be a happy clique whose office chairs are so close together that the newbie can’t quite hear their exchanged whispers.

As a new recruit it is always a good idea to be pleasant to everyone, smile and quietly work at your office desks, keeping your head down and keeping your initial opinions to yourself, for a while at least.

If you are a long serving employee and either through instinct or if ordered to do so, you find yourself showing the new person where the toilet, kitchen and coffee machine are and perhaps even asking them if they want to go for lunch with you, make sure that this eternally grateful newbie if not ‘quite your type’ does not end up stuck to you!

Think twice before you jump in with both feet and take on the new person who you know very little about.
