There are many good reasons why you should consider changing your office to a more greener office. Now, businesses and residents are actively supported by councils and utility companies in doing just this. It can prove to be cheaper in the long run and much better for the environment.
Giving a positive message to workers is also a big bonus here because you are effectively investing in the future of the business and the environment.
Simple things like reducing landfill by recycling old office furniture reduces the energy spent on reproducing office furniture, every bit helps!
Start with areas where you can have recycle bins by the side of worker’s office desks.
Saving water and energy in bathrooms used by staff will mean installing touch taps and dryers that turn themselves off. Don’t heat offices that are unused and keep the thermostat always set for the right times. Even simply switching off all computers and equipment not being used can make a positive change in energy efficiency.
When it comes to our office furniture and the obvious furniture like desks and office chairs it is better for the environment that the materials which have been used show low VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) because these affect the air quality inside and even outside the office.
Any softer office furnishings need to be made from natural fibres.
