Distractions require a good deal of strong will to ignore because some distractions are unavoidable but there are some distractions that can be avoided, out of the list of distractions to follow it is easy to tell which one is which for you and which ones you can avoid.

Within an office environment distractions include poor lighting in office desk areas, glares from computer monitors and no natural lighting within the main work area.

Bad air conditioning, particularly in summer months, temperatures can shoot the roof and quite literally temperature rises, so if you are stuck on the top floor of an office block your employees are going to start dropping like flies on their office desks and falling asleep, lethargy is hard to fight!!

If the ventilation is bad, fumes may come into the office space putting workers off.

Lack of workable space; are the office desks literally pushed against each other in close proximity of their neighbour’s desks?  The area will get cluttered quickly and personal work tools disappear more easily, not only this but workers in close proximity to each other will either be distracted by the other’s annoying habits or incredible sense of humour.

Are you constantly bombarded with loud talking on phones, photocopiers, over the desk chatting, printers and scanners?

And if you are a freelancer and work from home, there will be one or a few choices you could probably make from this list of distractions; housemates, relatives, spouses, children, household chores, pets.

I’ll be telling you some ways of dealing with this calmly and effectively
