Cramped conditions in an office are pretty high on the list of unhappy employees. Call centres (especially some of the original ones), are renowned for having cramped working conditions.
It is neither safe nor productive to cram your employee’s office desks, computer desks and filing cabinets into a tight space and expect temperatures and tempers particularly start to soar in the hot summer months.
Saving money on utlising a smaller office space is not always really saving money. If your employees are really almost sat on top of each other in their office chairs you simply will not be getting 100% of out of them and thus they will not be earning their salary properly!
Actually, there are some recent surveys conducted on employees that show that 60% of sick days are caused by the office environment and not actual sickness. A non conductive office space and cramped or old office furniture will lead to distraction and unhappy working conditions.
It is better to invest in your biggest investments (your employees) and ensure they have airy and roomy working conditions that are not shadowed by filing cabinets or crammed with office chairs.
You will soon see higher attendance from a more energized workforce who respects their employer and the office.
