Recent research shows that men have cleaner office desks on average than women.
Professor Charles Gerba from the University of Arizona stated that he has found men to have 3 – 4 times more space on their office desks than women.
Some of this may be down to women keeping more belongings with them at work. Popular items for women to keep on, and in their office desks are photographs, brushes, lipstick, mirror, tissues, and magazines. Findings have also shown that the skincare and cosmetic products left in women’s desks along with food items will invite bacteria to cling to the office desk and quickly fill the environment with germs.
