Although environmental concerns are currently taking second place to financial ones, it may help to know how your business can contribute to saving the world. Every day people dispose of tonnes of waste, some of which may be of use to someone else. A good number of businesses now contribute, to some extent, to reducing landfill by separating their rubbish into that which is biodegradable and that which can be recycled, such as paper. However, this admirable trait is rarely followed in any other area.
As a general rule, if an office desk or chair gets broken, it is thrown out and replaced with some new office furniture – or just thrown out if a business’s cash flow doesn’t cover the replacement of broken office furniture at present. The tendency to just dispose of old and broken items often negates the contribution that most people make in the proper disposal of everyday rubbish.
If you have some broken furniture, or are fortunate enough to be replacing the old with the new, then here is your chance to really go green. There are a growing number of companies offering to collect old or broken office furniture, before repairing it and finding it a new home. So next time you decide to buy some new office furniture why not take the green option and pass the old stuff on.
