Spring is coming and as more and more of us are starting to work from home a garden home office could be a perfect solution.

The humble outhouse, the symbol of British eccentricity, has become a subject of many books and TV programmes over the years.

It has been a historical assumption that the shed is mainly seen as a male domain, and as many sitcoms would have you think, the place where a man will go to escape a nagging wife.

Many more people are constructing our own garden home office and working from them during the spring and summer months because working outdoors can be highly therapeutic.  A simple garden shed can be decked out with adequate office desks and office chairs and now that most laptops are wireless you don’t have to worry about transporting your network connection to your garden office. Also many more people now use only their mobile phone for office use. This is ideal, because for most people these two modes of communication should be adequate during their working day.

An office in the garden is a marvellous workspace because you can dedicate this entire area to your summer office and so enjoy an oasis of calm away from mounting piles of laundry. Enjoy the sunshine with the door open and listen to the birds singing around you.  It is worth noting that if you build a proper garden office you could look at adding another 5% to the value of your home.
