Many people are attracted to the idea of a freelancer’s life; when people work from home others tend to think that what they are doing is not proper work and that they drink tea and a chat all day or take in parcels in their pyjamas. If you want to work from home and make a success of it, pyjamas or no pyjamas, then you have to adopt a professional attitude about your working hours and the needs of other people.

There are a number of things that you can do if you want to make a success of freelancing. Although your working hours may be more flexible than they might be if you had a regular job, you need to be consistent in the number of hours that you work every day. You should have a dedicated work space, and if you treat yourself to some home office furniture then you are telling the world that you are serious about working from home. If there isn’t the space for office furniture then you should at least try to work in the same area each day, you will also need somewhere to keep all of the paper work that may be associated with your job.
