In recent years there has been a huge emphasis on ergonomic furniture, particularly ergonomic furniture for the office. Ergonomic furniture is furniture that is made to suit the comfort and health needs of the user, for example, adaptable office chairs are far better for you than the old type of chair as they are designed to support your back and arms where it is needed.
If you are sat at a desk all day long then you really should have a desk that is the right height for you. A desk that is too high will mean that you have to stretch more than you should to reach areas of the desk; a desk that is too low means that you will be bent over it all day and this will affect your back and shoulders.
A lot of back trouble and repetitive strain injury is caused by mice (the electronic kind). If you have the wrong sort of desk and chair and are sat in an awkward position then shifting a mouse around all day will have an effect on the muscles and joints in your hand and wrist. When you are sat at a computer for a good number of hours every day then you really do need to be comfortable.
