Office team building

The team building technique has been used time and time again within our corporate business world. However, it is not quite as popular these days because many people are sceptical and think that these techniques may just be a little bit of fun and couldn’t possibly be work orientated.

There are some managers who feel that they are already perfectly capable of doing team building themselves, although what they fail to realise is that team building should be an ongoing process.  The military is a perfect example of this.

Simple changes can be made if you are team building yourself.

Start by situating office desks in the right places, which will be close enough for co-workers to communicate for work reasons without affecting their concentration.

Always check with the group first before you make a decision as they will warm to the situation better, even if it is something simple like moving people and office furniture into different positions.

Don’t be seen to have a favourite because you must treat people equally and that includes not pulling up to the same colleague’s office chair for a quick chat every day that no one else in the office can hear.  If you do this you will start breaking down relationships with the very members of the group that you are trying to win over.
