Office dynamics are hardly simple

These days the average place of work can be as complex and complicated as the Big Brother politics we see on TV. We are still so shocked when events occur, even when we should come to expect anything.

As an intrepid explorer moving through the office desks of hierarchy, trying to work out who the chief is can be confusing.

If you have been unfortunate enough to have to sit at the same office desk for over 4 years you can become used to the office politics and forget what it is like for a new person to be the butt of in-jokes and phrases. When moving from department to department in an organisation it is often the case that each department is very different in their behavior and outlook to another. Some offices will see people swearing at each other and swiveling around on office chairs to talk while in other departments you can barely hear a pin drop in the office.

It is easy to forget that any group of human beings who are thrown together are going to start developing complex dynamics. If you consider your colleagues who are sat at the office desks next to you, you know there will be certain people they will mix with socially from the office and some they would rather avoid.
