Filing or storage cabinets are really important for an office environment; they are the key to organisation and a good filing system is half way to ensuring that you function effectively.  Most storage cabinets will be used for storing files, paperwork, media and sometimes office supplies.  This type of office furniture will normally be made of wood or metal, with wood being the most expensive choice of the two.

Many storage cabinets which are wood will blend well with other wooden office furniture items and can be custom designed. The aesthetics of wooden cabinets and filing cabinets are very pleasing and they don’t make as much noise when opening and closing.  The obvious disadvantage is that the wood cabinets are much more expensive to their metal counterparts.

Metal storage cabinets are normally fairly noisy and can look quite stark against other pieces of office furniture; however, they are normally far lighter than the wooden filing cabinets and can be transported more easily.

Consider locks for your cabinets no matter what material you decide to go for, it would be wise to ensure the cabinet has certain safety features such as restricting the number of draws that can be opened at any one time to avoid the cabinet toppling over.
