Keep distractions at work to a minimum

Most of us are used to living our daily lives with constant distractions ranging from children, neighbours, pets and a number of other variants.  It is clear that working within an office full of people brings with it its own set of daily distractions but due to the nature of us being at work and requiring a certain amount of concentration to fulfil a task, work distractions can in many ways be far more impactful in a negative way to our work output.

When distractions begin to impact on our ability to do a good job it does become a huge issue, one way to approach this is to try and adopt some will power and learn to ‘shut out’ everything that goes on around you so you can easily and happily sit at your office desk in complete concentration, however, this is not possible for everyone so here are a few ideas to help minimise those disturbances:

Apart from the noise, organisation helps you to concentrate to ensure you keep your office desk tidy and in order, as soon as you start losing pieces of paperwork you will start to wander away from the task in hand.  In the summer months in particular, hot and noisy office items which are on your desk such as printers and scanners will start to make you increasingly uncomfortable so start placing them away from you in the office.

Request if it is possible to add partisans between the office desks to reduce noise and encourage privacy and concentration.
Choose an office desk away from a busy area where people wander through the office.
