The figures are the highest they have ever been in terms of the number of people working from home.

In recent years there have been more and more home based entrepreneurs who have visited the doctor complaining of pain and discomfort, fatigue and in some instances, even injury.  The reason for many of these ailments can be down to something simple - your home office.  Poor layout of office furniture and office chairs that are not ergonomic in any way will lead to aches and injuries.

Ergonomics has been defined as ‘The applied science of equipment design, as for the workplace, intended to maximise productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort.’ Ergonomics plays a huge role for office workers.

The office chair is the primary example of the most important piece of office furniture that has a direct impact on a person’s posture and it is essential that it supports the spine well.

Wrist and forearm injuries and strains can be down to overusing a keyboard that is stationed at the wrong height for your seated posture. The keyboard should always be placed at a lower level to that of your office desk. In these instances a keyboard tray is an important accessory.
