Home office essentials

If you work, or plan to work from home then you should have some sort of home office. Whether you choose a corner of the kitchen table or are lucky enough to have a whole room to yourself there are certain things that you should have if you want your work at home to be successful.

Firstly, many people working from home require the use of a computer. Whether you decide to go for a desk top computer and monitor or whether you want the greater flexibility of working with a laptop is up to you. You may need the computer for a major part of your work, especially if it is online, or you may just need it to deal with emails and set up documents. Whatever you use a computer for, get the best that you can afford if you want it to last.

You will also need some office stationery and perhaps some business cards. If you want to keep things neat in your home office, even if it is only the corner of a table to start with, then you need storage. When you first start some lever arch files and a couple of shelves should be sufficient for your needs – you can always add things as they are needed and when your business or work grows.
