If you are in the process of refitting your company offices then don’t make the mistake of forgetting your regular meeting or boardroom. Most company executives spend several hours a week in meetings and research tends to suggest that seating and surroundings can have a considerable effect on whether or not such meetings are productive.
There have been a large number of studies into work performance and findings overall recommend that having comfortable chairs that support a person’s back results in an increase in performance. It doesn’t matter how much you spend on the latest electronic white boards and other technological gadgets, these will not improve attention and performance if attendance at meetings means sitting in an uncomfortable chair.
You should have the same level of comfort in the board room as you do in the offices, so it is worthwhile having the same chairs in both places. People are often sat in a meeting or conference for two to three hours at a time and if they experience back ache every time they are in the board room then they are not paying attention to what is being said. Make sure that board meetings are pleasant and productive by getting some comfortable office chairs for people to sit on.
