There was a time when people who went on about rain forests and the environment were voices in the wilderness, often seen as cranks. Nowadays there is a global change in attitude towards things environmental and most people recognise that there is at least some value in being careful with resources. You don’t have to wear an anorak or sport a badge saying save the whale to help out the environment, just a little bit of thought and an even smaller amount of effort can make a big difference.
When computers first started to appear on people’s desks there was a lot of talk about the paperless office but this has not happened. One of the most important items of office furniture is still the circular file, or as it is more commonly known, the waste paper bin. We still need hard copies of most things and that involves a lot of paper, something that we only get from trees. While there is legislation about how we deal with personal and commercial waste, it is not always adhered to by individuals and companies. You could do your bit for the environment and save some trees from being felled if you recycle your waste paper and only buy recycled paper for hard copy documents and general paper work.
