According to recent research employees now desire a ‘soft environment’ in the work place which experts say springs from the popularity in laptops, PDAs and other portable high tech devices which has made working in an environment that is ‘more comfortable’ a reality.
Additionally, the study also showed that outside offices have more recently started to change their office furniture from the once daunting office cubicle style layouts which were meant to help focus employees and block out noise to a more open and creative office space.
Many employers are now considering large open spaces with well spaced office desks and storage facilities cleverly set back to maximise floor space in order to inspire a dynamic and creative environment; some creative offices and design agencies even have funky couches and crazy beds for their staff to hold ‘brain storming’ sessions.
Other employers are taking the route of the minimalist approach, creating artistic and modern interiors to inspire their creative staff.
Nowadays, it is advantageous for businesses to ‘free’ themselves of the old school approach to office layout and office furniture. Moving with the future keeps the ebb and flow of creativity going in the business, keeps the direction of the company on track and of course, increases its employee’s performance levels.
